Julie M. Sheldon

COUNSEL

Julie M. Sheldon is counsel at Alter Wolff Foley & Stutman LLP. Julie’s practice includes all areas of family and matrimonial law including divorce, property distribution, child custody, parenting time, spousal support, child support, and prenuptial agreements. Julie has extensive experience litigating complex financial matters, including those involving business interests, real estate holdings, professional practices, vested and unvested stock options, and family or inherited wealth.

Julie appreciates that, in some cases, settling out of court can be the best course of action, and she helps her clients amicably resolve their matters when possible. When litigation is required, Julie is equally as capable and zealously advocates for her clients before trial and appellate courts.

Julie provides solution-oriented, compassionate counsel. She works with her clients to understand their particular legal, financial, and emotional goals. She takes care to thoroughly explain the divorce process and various strategy options to her clients, and to answer all of their questions.

Prior to joining AWF, Julie was an associate attorney in the Matrimonial and Family Law practice group at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP. Prior to that, Julie was an in-house attorney for JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. and was a litigation associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP, where she represented commercial clients in complex tax, banking, and insurance matters often involving damages of more than $100 million dollars.

Julie graduated from the Rutgers University School of Law in 2006 where she was an Editor of the Rutgers Law Review and the recipient of the Dean’s Merit Scholarship and Harris Cotton Scholarship. She received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from American University.
